Ear yeast does not float loose in the canal. It builds a film that sticks to the canal wall, down inside the L-shaped bend, and it lives protected in there. Inside that film it survives concentrations of antifungal far higher than it could in the loose form.
That is why the prescribed drops work while you are using them. They reach what is loose, not what is inside the film. When the course ends, what survived recolonises the canal in a few weeks. The shelf cleaner fails the same way from the other direction: it takes off the deposit sitting on top of the film, not the film.
Two bottles, because the problem has two parts
Lift loosens the film off the wall. Dry takes the moisture out of the bend, because trapped warmth and damp are the conditions that let the film rebuild. The category treats drying as a footnote and usually uses alcohol, which stings an inflamed canal. Here drying is half the method, and it uses no alcohol.
What it will not do
